Another Lamb

I was walking up a hill at dusk. At the top of the track a young lamb was bleating.

It looked helpless and alone up there by itself. I started to think as if it had been thousands of years ago on a small hill in Egypt, and the lamb had been destined as a sacrifice.

Tonight the lamb was unsuspectingly grazing in the field as I trudged up the track towards it. Tomorrow it would be slain for the sins of myself and my family.

As I look at the lamb, it seems pretty harsh. It had no idea what would happen as I come towards it. Carrying it home I can’t help but think about its innocence. It rests in my arms in complete trust.

Welcome to Who Do You Serve!

I’ve been planning various versions of this site for years and years.

It’s probably a good thing I didn’t start writing it back then, because God has taught me so much in that time.

You can see the purpose for the site on the about page.

Basically the idea is to talk about what young people need to do to serve the Lord.

That includes right now, when, most of us, are single. And preparing for the future, when, most of us will be married.

I don’t feel at all qualified to write on these topics because I know everything or because of experience. Obviously with things like courtship and marriage, I have no experience at all.

The only reason I write is because I have the perfect, inspired and sufficient Word of God. I believe the Bible tells us how to live in every area of our lives.

And beyond having the Bible, practically all of my understanding is thanks to godly people who have taught me. Like favourite preachers (John MacArthur, Paul Washer, John Piper, and Voddie Baucham), favourite authors (Wayne Grudem) my parents and my pastor (Pastor Bill Preston at Calvary Baptist), as well as dozens of others who have influenced and blessed me.

Of course any wisdom I have is by the Holy Spirit. I pray He will keep my (and any others) to only writing the truth on here.

There probably won’t be many (if any) original thoughts on here. Just an attempt to encourage and discuss what we need to do.

I hope you’ll become part of the discussion through the comments. And let me know if you’d like to contribute a post.
